18 Years of consulting and technical innovation

2006

Ae established

Ae was founded with the goal of assisting governments in administering and taxing their resource sectors such as oil and gas. We achieved this by deploying the most recent technologies to build management tools, delivering in-depth consulting advice by experts in their field, and presenting high-quality training support to our client.

Revolutionising tax declarations and payments

Ae developed software to streamline large company tax declarations, to help analyse petroleum fiscal data, and to identify potential infringements of tax rules. Over the years this software has evolved and enabled our clients to effectively administer their resource based fiscal policies.

2007

2008

Upgrading knowledge transfer

Ae automated the submission of provisional tax data by oil and gas companies, reducing the technical workload of government departments and mitigating the risk of human error in tax returns.
Ae prepared high-level and informed technical reports to add value for its clients.
Ae revolutionised its method of transferring know-how by delivering out-of-country training to complement its in-country courses.

Forecasting government revenues

Ae introduced a revenue forecasting model for governments to forecast economic, financial, and fiscal outcomes linked to oil and gas revenues.

Today, this model provides forecasts for an entire resource province and for individual project lifecycles; it calculates future petroleum fiscal revenues and can reconcile the fiscal take across government departments.

2009

2011

Enhancing data analytics

Ae launched a fiscal administration system - bespoke software for governments requiring granularity in their petroleum fiscal data.

Today, this system serves as an access point for specific service modules that helps tax departments to analyse data and make informed decisions.

Always seeking to do better

Ae is committed to applying new technologies wherever possible, strengthening internal know-how within our teams, and improving the technical performance of our products.

2013

2015

Building a macro-fiscal framework

Ae worked with government and academic partners to build a macro-fiscal framework. This aggregate country-wide economic model incorporated sectoral inputs and outputs and focused on the importance of resource revenues from oil and gas for government budgetary calculations.

Enhancing administrative efficiencies

Ae released a public administration portal, a system designed to improve administrative efficiencies within government, and to give users the power and flexibility to visualise, analyse, report, and share information.

2016

2017

Innovating and arbitrating

Ae launched its second-generation fiscal administration system, expanding the flexibility of the software to interrogate and analyse fiscal information, and to link it to audited company data.
Ae supported the arbitration of a long-standing tax litigation dispute between high-profile entities, including government and resource companies.

Providing technical support in tax policy

Ae provided crucial support for government policy makers in the face of intense industry tax lobbying.
Ae continued its UK academic partnerships and began to build new academic partnerships in Portugal.

2018

2018

Transfer pricing and mining & minerals

Ae launched a software tool to simplify the government monitoring of transfer pricing in the oil and gas sector and the calculation of a tax reference price.
Ae launched a mining and minerals program to administer taxes from this sector. Company tax data is now being submitted into the program remotely from mining companies.

Elevating data quality

Ae launched a database to receive and store large amounts of oil and gas field data from oil and gas companies, for use in the calculation of future petroleum taxes. Companies submit data remotely into the database, which is linked to the revenue forecasting model.

2019

2020

Enhancing export efficiency

Ae launched a program to streamline the recording of crude oil export data for customs officials. The program has interfaces for the numerous stakeholders involved in the export process using three secure portals and a series of alerts.

Document management control

Ae built a document management system using a bespoke Microsoft SharePoint solution, to visualise workflows and to improve document filing and administration.
Ae started work on an oil and gas tax cycle program that will bring together the critical elements of a complex forty-eight-month tax cycle into a single database. The program will enable users to determine the final audited and adjusted tax payments for an entire resource sector, such as petroleum.

2022

2023

Oil production monitoring

Ae began work on an oil production monitoring system, designed to collect real-time data from oil and gas fields. The system will bring together significant amounts of data into a single database from a vast number of oil and fields.

Committed to growth

Ae is actively shaping the future with our third-generation software, introducing fresh advances in data analysis and visual reporting. We are growing our team of specialists and enhancing client support while reinforcing our commitment to use innovative technologies and to elevate our training services.
